Children's Ministry

children's ministry

St. Paul's children's ministries are centered on it's Sunday School program.  However, we also have a strong Preschool, a joyous week of Vacation Bible School each summer, children's sermons in worship, intergenerational programs, seasonal celebrations and faith stepping-stones.

Please visit our Blog, Perspectives on Children's and Family Ministry, to read the latest musings of our Director of Education and Family Life and to contribute your thoughts on how best to nuture the faith life of our children and families.

Sunday School is held each Sunday morning during the school year from 9:30 - 10:30.  Please see the separate Sunday School page (under "Services") for more information.

St. Paul's Preschool is a service and outreach ministry of our congregation, reflecting the values and teachings of our church.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is an outreach ministry of our congregation, a great chance for children to hear the Gospel, and a lot of fun!  We invite all children between the ages of 3 to rising 5th grade to Join us on a "High Seas Expedition", where we will be "exploring the Mighty Love of God",  July 26-30 2010, 9 AM-12 PM. Download a Registration form here, or pick one up from the church office office. Registration begins April 1and the registration deadline is Tuesday, June 1, 2010. For a sneak preview, watch this promotional video!

Children's Sermons are a regular feature of our Sunday worship services at 11:00. Children are welcome in our services anyway, but the children's sermons help to reinforce this, as well as giving a special message geared specifically toward them.  These short messages normally tie in with the theme of each Sunday.  We also learn short Bible verses during these sermons.

Intergenerational Programs and Seasonal Celebrations are held throughout the year.  See the Sunday School page and the Special Events page for more information.

Faith Stepping-Stones is a way of celebrating the faith of our children at different stages of their lives.  At each stage a special gift and blessing is given.  While some of these steps have their own celebrations, a common celebration is normally given each year at Rally Day- the beginning of a new Sunday School year in early September.  The 6 "stepping-stones" are baptism (whenever a child is ready - gift of a children's Bible), 3 years old (ready for Sunday School - given a book bag), 3rd grade (given a youth Bible), beginning of Confirmation (7th grade or whenever ready - given a Catechism), end of Confirmation (after completion of the two-year program - given a special book), and high school graduation (given a Lutheran Prayer Book).
