Q: What does this program do?
A: St. Paul’s Computers collects and refurbishes computers, and donates them to people who would otherwise be unable to afford the technology.
Q: What types of items do you accept for donations?
A: We accept a wide variety of items, including:
- Any computer, working or not, with a Pentium 4 processor or newer that is running Windows XP, Vista, or 7.
- LCD monitors (no CRTs, please)
- CD/DVD (optical) drives
- Cables (VGA, ethernet, power, etc.)
- Wireless networking cards
- Computer components (i.e., video and sound expansion cards)
- Operating system and Microsoft Office installation or restore disks
- Hard drives (60gb or larger)
- Keyboards and mice in good condition
Q: When and where will I be able to drop off my donations?
A: During designated events when we receive large numbers of computers, the drop off location is the front driveway at St. Paul’s (7426 Idylwood Road Falls Church, VA 22043). Signs will guide you to the designated place. If you are donating at a time other than a collection event, please fill out the donation form so we can follow up directly with you to arrange for drop off or pick up.
Q: Will my data on my donated hard drive be securely erased?
A: We understand data privacy concerns and have IT specialists who process all incoming equipment. All hard drives are thoroughly erased and formatted in such a way that no data can be recovered. If you are concerned about recoverable data on your hard drive, we can arrange for you to be present when the equipment has been cleaned so you can verify that your data has been removed.
If you have any other questions related to St. Paul’s Computers, please send a message to the church office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
