A Thanksgiving Litany of Prayer and Praise

OPENING PRAYER

Almighty God, your mercies are new every morning and you graciously provide for all our needs of body and soul.

Grant us your Holy Spirit that we may acknowledge your goodness, give thanks for your benefits, and serve you in willing obedience all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAISE TO GOD FOR HIS BLESSINGS IN CHRIST

(From Ephesians 1)

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.

Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world,
That we should be holy and blameless before him.

In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ,
According to the purpose of his will.

In him we have redemption through his blood,
The forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.

Which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight
Making known to us the mystery of his will.

According to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ
As a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

PRAYER FOR OUR MEAL (from Psalm 145)

The eyes of all look to you, O Lord, and you give them their food at the proper time. You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
Lord God, heavenly Father, bless us and these your gifts which we receive from your bountiful goodness, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

CLOSING PRAYER

Heavenly Father, God of all grace, govern our hearts that we may never forget your blessings but steadfastly thank and praise you for all your goodness in this life until, with all your saints, we praise you eternally in your heavenly kingdom; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
